
About the class
The HeartSaver® Bloodborne Pathogens course, developed by the American Heart Association (AHA), teaches participants how to protect themselves and others from exposure to blood or blood-containing materials in the workplace. This training aligns with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens education when combined with site-specific instruction.
Through a focused, instructor-led session, students learn practical, easy-to-remember steps to minimize exposure risks and respond effectively if an incident occurs. The course is designed for individuals in a wide range of professions where contact with bloodborne pathogens is possible.
What You’ll Learn
• Explain what bloodborne pathogens are and how they are spread
• Recognize situations where exposure to bloodborne pathogens may occur
• Apply standard precautions to reduce risk
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
