Family & Friends® CPR

About the class

The Family & Friends® CPR course from the American Heart Association (AHA) is designed to teach lifesaving CPR skills for adults, children, and infants in a supportive, group-based learning environment. Using the AHA’s practice-while-watching method—proven through research to maximize hands-on time—participants gain the skills and confidence to act quickly in an emergency.

This non-certification course focuses on core CPR skills without the pressure of testing, making it ideal for individuals, families, and community groups who want to be prepared to save a life.

What You’ll Learn

• Perform Hands-Only CPR for an adult

• Provide adult CPR with rescue breaths

• Provide child CPR with rescue breaths

• Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for adults and children

• Recognize when CPR is needed and take quick action

• Work as part of a team in a group rescue situation

Course Format

• Instructor-Led: Skills are taught through video instruction and hands-on practice with manikins, following the AHA’s practice-while-watching technique.

• Time Commitment: 1-1.5 hours

• Location: In-person training sessions in Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County, MI
